Here are a few things to take into consideration when choosing a station that you might not have thought about.

1. Asthetics

Changing stations dont have to be ugly or a complete misfit within your home. You can take into consideration different colors, styles, models, and combinations with other infant furniture such as cribs.

2. Usability

Usability is by far the most important aspect to take into consideration when purchasing a baby changing station. Function over form is a priority, but it is possible to have both. Usability includes safety, storage space, space use wiin a room, and comfort for both you and your baby.

3. Portability

If you have multiple floors within your house then portability might be a concern so that you are not forced with having to travel far. On the other hand, it might make more sense to not have to lug a portable changing surface and instead just use the floor when not nearby.

4. Price

Baby changing stations typically range from $50 to $300 dollars or more. It is possible to get a changing station that is inexpensive and durable. Unlike car seats, these changing stations can last much longer and fulfil your needs if you plan on having additional children or passing it down when no longer needed.

Did you know that there is proper baby changing etiqeutte when you are out in public? Besides knowing that someone can be offended if you breast feed in public, I had no idea that their was a proper protocol for baby changing because I am not a parent yet myself. If you are a new parent unlike me you should take a look at the following rules before you and your pride and joy take to the streets.

1. Always change your baby in a bathroom.

This should be obvious. Just like it would be rude for an adult to take a crap in their pants and then take them off while you are standing in line at a fast food joint. We also dont want to see and smell your baby’s ding-a-ling nor do-do.

2. Always have a pad to lay over the public restrooms diaper changing station.

You don’t know how clean the baby changing station is, so why wouldn’t you want your baby to have a barrier between it and the bacteria infested surface.

3. Don’t dispose of diapers in the trash, use a poop bag and dispose of it when you get home.

While you may want to get rid of it at a public restroom trash can so that it is off your hands, it is not the proper thing to do. You will be pissing off everyone else who has to use that restroom afterwards with an unsanitary smell and feel. Not only that the employee that has to empty or push the trash down will not be fond of you. If you care about the service you and your kid receive elsewhere then dont set a poor reputation for yourself. No matter how cute your kid is they arent cute enough to forget about the poop present they left for an unsuspecting customer or employee.

Dont feel like following the ettiquette, then visit baby changing table to purchase a personal diaper changing station.

As a new parent, changing a diaper will be inevitable, but you do have some choices as a consumer with what diaper changing table you buy. Here are few things you should take into consideration before buying a changing station.

1. Choose a sturdy table.

Construction with any piece of furniture you buy is important. Preferably purchase a station that is prebuilt in the store so that you can fully inspect its build quality. If it is wobbly or uneven in the store then it is unlikely to be any different when you build it at home. Safety with your loved one is a priority so make sure that the railing is securely attached.

2. Choose an ideal size.

It is important to choose the right height and length for a table especially if space in your home is limited. Many changing stations have plenty of storage space. They might double as a dresser providing you with extra utility for your money. Height is important especially if you are tall or short. The table is an investment that yiu can pass down or reuse when it is needed in the future. It is important to be comfortable with your purchase and have everything you will need in easy reach.

3. Storage space for baskets.

Common items at a baby changing station include diapers, washclothes, wipes, baby powder, extra clothing, nail trimmers, and baby thermometers. It is ideal to have most of these items located in a basket beneath the surface since they will be commonly used. Some changing stations will include these baskets, but you may have to purchase these separately with others.

1. Austin TX – Austin is one of the fastest growing cities in the nation. It is a city where hippies and business executives co-exist to produce one of the most artistic inspirational cities. It is actually one of the most inviting cities for entrepreneurs especially in the technology sector. It has been described as a “large womb” because it doesn’t feel like Texas, even though you are in the capital of Texas. That could be a good thing if you aren’t fond of the south.

2. Worcester, MA – While Boston might be the more prestigious city in Massachusetts and steal the thunder of Worcester, Worcester has a vibe that grows on you if you explore what it has to offer. It is filled with colleges and quality restaurants. What was once a former industrial city has become an excellent area to buy centrally located real estate on the cheap. It is a city that feels like it is just about the right size – not too crowded like some cities, and not too spread out like the southern sprawl. Many students come and go after four years, but if you want to start a business here, it has an untapped market of graduates from more than a half dozen universities with thousands of students in a variety of fields. Plus Worcester has an excellent health care system with a few major hospitals and many medical clinics, or offices.

3. Las Vegas – Las Vegas is known as a tourist city, but it is actually one of the least expensive places to open a business and reside. It has a fast growing population of residents. Despite its fast growing population, it has a surplus of extremely desirable homes that are simply not occupied because developers went a little overboard with their developments. More supply than demand works out in the consumers benefit because you can get a lot more home for your money. Because the city has virtually no taxes makes it very enticing for businesses to open up even if you aren’t in the tourism sector.

Even if you don’t plan to open a major corporation, you can run your small business from your home using Courier Services that will help you get your product to your customer.

Even though front loaders are more trendy currently, top loaders still hold a few advantages over them. This is a pros and cons list for top loaders and front loader washing machines.

Initial cost – This is the most obvious first question. Top loaders have been around and in use for a longer period of time. They are not as desireable, therefore they cost less. Top loader wins.

Cost of use – Front loaders use a third amount of water because they do not need to be filled to the top like top loaders. They use gravity to cycle clothes through the water. Top loaders need to fill and empty water a few times. Front loaders use less resources. Front loader wins.

Space – Front loaders typically have more space because they are completely open unlike top loaders. Front loaders also take up less physical space because they can be stacked with dryers. Very rarely are dryers stacked with top loaders. Front loaders win.

Ergonomics – If you are short top loaders can be a pain to reach all the clothes. If you are tall front loaders can be a pain to have to bend down for. Sure you can get a platform for front loaders, but thats going to cost you extra. This one is a Draw!

Last minute clothes – You might be thinking this isn’t a big deal, but front loaders can’t be opened once the cycle has started, top loaders generally can be. When you find an article of clothing right after you started a load, you will realize just how annoying it can be to not be able to add something. Top loader wins.

Going green has become an overly used, trendy term, with more individual awareness these past few years. Some people think you have to buy a Prius to be green, but you don’t have to spend any money at all.

True, people like to buy a hybrid because it makes a statement that you are an environmentally conscius individual whom might like to flaunt it. You dont need a fuel sipping car to feel good about yourself though.

Don’t think of this as being green, think about it as your monthly bottom line in spending. You want more money to spend or invest elsewhere, and even though you might have a lazziefaire attitude, remeber that the savings do add up over time. It could be the difference of paying the minimum on your credit card or taking the initiative to be debt free sooner.

Here are a few of my suggestions…

Use the correct amount of high efficieny detergent in your washing machine. Too many people ignore this and are literally throwing money “down the drain.”

Hang your clothes out to dry. Dryers are energy hogs, and the power of the sun can evaporate that moisture for you. Even if you have no sun or its too cold, if the clothes are lightly damp hang them indoors in a room with no humidity. If they are too wet they will not dry quick enough and could begin to smell defeating the original purpose of clean clothes.

Use the dishwasher, dont handwash. Many modern dishwashers use less water and electricity than doing it manually.. If the dishwasher is high enough quality you only need to scrape the scraps into the trash because many modern dishwashers have a built in garbage disposal.

Did you know that you can get Gain coupons printable for your dishwasher detergent and laundry detergent needs to save even more money?

Everyone wants to keep their whites looking like new, but it is not a simple task by any means. In fact, it may be less troublesome if you take into account having to purchase replacement undershirts and other garments that are white a couple times a year. That can be expensive so what is an average person suppose to do?

Even though you may not have enough white clothes to always do a full load, resist the urge to wash them with your colored clothes. Whites need bleach to stay white. If you dont care enough about how white they are then ignore the previous statement and go ahead with mixing them, afterall it is better to at least wash them than not at all.

If the white clothes are stained before being washed, you should pretreat the clothing with shout or another stain remover. Always add bleach, but never add colored clothes unless you would like to have your whites turn pink.

To me, drying your whites in a dryer seems to help keep your clothes appearing white. I presume this is because a dryer is able to remove lint or dust from your clothing that the washer could not. It is excellent at collecting any pet hair that the washer leaves.

I’ve also been told that hanging your clothes out to dry in the bright sun can make your clothes brighter. I am not aware if this is true or not, but I can imagine the logic behind it.

In addition to bleach, use an appropriate amount of detergent and do NOT overfill the washing machine with clothes. This will help your clothes to move freely against the scrubers. Soaking in warm water losens debris but uses resources from your hot water heater.

Use adove coupon to save money on your next purchase.

If you are a manufacturer of a product, have you ever considered brainstroming other products that you could produce using the same raw materials? It is an extremely cost effective way to generate more revenue without increasing costs. Here are a few examples…

Car manufacturers produce a car, right? Actually, they probably mass produce multiple cars. One thing we know about business is that with additional supply the cost is typically less. The higher quantity of a part a company produces the less amount of money they have to spending researching and designing a different type of part. Ultimately many cars will, to reduce cost and be more affordable, use interchangeable parts between different models. Maybe they have the same engine or maybe they have the same fenders and grill, but only a few details separate them from each other to make them distinguished.

Did you know that Gain also makes dishwashing detergents and dryer sheets in addition to the washing machine detergents that they are known for? They also do different types of washing machine detergents like powdered and liquid washing detergents or for high efficiency machines they offer high efficiency detergent.

If you produce a product, brainstorm with your peers to see what ideas could become of what you already make. It is a great way to make your product lineup more diverse without adding significant additional expenses.

High efficieny washers are more economical in regards to the electricity and amount of water you use, but is the higher initial cost worth the expense? More importantly does using a high efficiency washer do just as good or better of a job cleaning your clothes.

The answer depends on the type of product purchased. A high efficiency washer is typically a front loader whereas a tradtitional is a top loader. Because they are high efficiency and a front loader expect to pay a few hundred more, but don’t discount the fact that they actually may be more technologically advanced too.

Do high efficiency washers make up for the cost with the resources saved? Yes, but it may take several years to get back to even with top loaders that have the same amount of regular usage. High efficiency washers use about a third less water because unlike top loaders they don’t need to be filled to the top.

High efficency washers use less water and spin faster therefore making your clothes dryer by the end of the load and saving you money on the amount of time they are in the dryer for.

For your high efficiency washer use high efficiency detergent like Gain. If you’d like to save additional money on detergent for your new washer get Gain coupons online.

Don’t disqualify automated content just yet! Even though autoblogs that are created are typically worthless because they dont generate new content, believe it or not there are actual helpful uses of following automated blogs, or more specifically microblogs that post links to automated blogs using Twitter.

As an example, I find twitter feeds that post some of the best content available on the web. Basically they are using a service like TwitterFeed.com to automatically update their twitter status which provides a link to content on their automated website. It is very useful for those of us that don’t have time to dig for information because it consolidates all the newest and relevant content towards our interests and serves it all up on one tray on Twitter.

On a side note, I personally like to use the iPad app, Flipboard, which is extremely convenient for use with Twitter RSS feeds and Google Reader (and even Facebook too!) It takes those status updates and turns it into a user friendly magazine presentation.

The reason why using social media to link to automated blogs is most effective is because these are real people looking to follow what they like. Its short and sweet, and people see the headlines and links, that’s it!

It is a new way of searching for information that actually promotes content to be shared (retweeted) versus search engines that will find the original content with the most backlinks. Instead of Google judging which search results are best for you based on a complicated algorithm, you are instead searching by keywords or similar tweeters who might have a substantial following if they have compelling tweets. It is entirely human judgement — and thus automated blogs have a purpose again on the web…

This sounds like a rediculously easy way to to make passive income (I haven’t tried myself yet) all the while helping users find the authors of those original blogs and helping them grow their subscriber viewership. If you own a blog and someone is reusing your content on their website, do NOT necessarily pursue them immediately because they may actually be doing you a favor by increasing your traffic!

If you have been inspired to start an autoblog for a specific niche, consider using social media to grow your subscribers numbers since search engine optimization won’t bode well for you. You can find RSS feeds for your blog with Webparser 2 by Cybermake which allows you to parse websites from search engines for your content. Remember, give credit to the original author and abide by Creative Commons or Copyright rules to avoid legal issues from using automated content.

If you feel anything like myself, then you hate throwing away half of your bars of soap because they can’t be used in the shower anymore. It seems like you just aren’t getting the full value for your money. Here are some uses I’ve come up with. You can try them at your own will or personal preference, but they might just be a little too unrealistic for you.

1. Trash Can – Do you have a smelly trash can? Throw your older bars of soap in the bottom of the barrel to help reduce odors. No, its not going to completely overpower the trash smell, but at least when you take your bag out the trash can won’t have a residual smell left. Well, it might have some, but every little bit of soap helps.

2. Clothes Drawer – Some people put new bars of soap in a clothes drawer to keep the clothes smelling fresh, but what if you saved the box and put the old soap back in the box when finished using it. Then all you have to do is seal the box back up with a piece of tape and put it in your clothes drawer.

3. Press pieces for giant bar of soap – If you take two pieces of used soap and place them on top of each other with some pressure and let them sit till the next time you shower, generally most soaps will stick together. This can be tricky sometimes because anytime you apply pressure to two bars of soap one will likely slip from your grasp.

4. Mesh Soap Saver – Mesh soap savers, sometimes referred to as a netted soap saver, are much easier to use then sticking your soap together. Picture a body scrubber, they are nearly identical in design except for the fact that they hold soap bars and not soap liquid. You can buy these online or from any store that has a pharmacy.

5. Plastic Container Soap – If you put a few leftover pieces of soap in a small container with a little bit of water, over time they will mesh together and can then be removed and used.

Hygiene products in general aren’t cheap, but they can be less expensive. Check out DoveCouponsPrintable.com to print a dove coupon.

Dove, formerly known as a hygiene products company primarily for women, has been aggressively campaigning their new men’s products, but is this company going to shed its feminine image?

Let’s be honest, most guys still think of Dove as a feminine beauty and grooming division of Unilever. Even if Unilever’s Dove mens lineup fails it is not as if they don’t have a piece of the market share in men’s hygiene products. They also own Axe, known for its infamous sex appeal to sell their products to men among an array of vastly diverse brands.

Dove offers body and face wash, deodorant, body and face bar soap, and shower scrubbers for the gents. The packaging is geared towards men with darker masculine colors. Oddly, the Dove logo and symbol occupy a significant amount of packaging real estate initially. Common belief would suggest Dove would do otherwise with its packaging space.

To no surprise, most product reviews of the deodorants and soaps are comparable to other high quality products that are available for men. The deodorants go on smooth and clear, have a robust scent, and can withstand rigorous physical activity.

It might be too soon to make a verdict on what will happen to Dove’s mens brand because changes won’t happen overnight for most companies and especially this one. The best they can hope for is that their marketing strategies will convince guys to be curious enough to try a new product. Men’s hygiene products are primarily dominated by the likes of Irish Springs, Old Spice, Axe, Right Guard, Speed Stick, and Gillette or for things like shampoo men will sometimes resort to products that are asexual so to speak, or are generic with no specific gender identification.

Verdict – It will be around awhile. Expect more aggressive campaigning playing on “sex sells” advertising like its cousin brand, Axe.

Generally speaking, websites should never use copied content because of its search engine penalties or worse yet; getting blacklisted indefinitely, although there are times when it would be acceptable to use an autoblog!

These automated websites will pop up for sale on Flippa.com and similar websites every day (Flippa is a website that auctions websites and domain names, sometimes for nearly two hundred dollars or more on autoblogs.)

But why do so many websites still use automated content, and why are people still buying them? We figure that they are bought up for one of three reasons.

1. These websites are purchased for their domain names which may include some popular keywords.

2. They are purchased by small time bidders who are hoping to flip the website or turn it into something profitable instead of starting completely from scratch.

3. They are purchased by domain website hoarders. The ones who just want to stockpile websites to send traffic to other websites.

If you are looking to make a quick buck, these websites have a proven track record that they are resalable as autoblogs. If they made a few dollars in ad revenue during the month they will definitely be almost guarenteed to sell for the right price.

A majority of them dont offer unique content nor do they have unique designs and it probably took the seller 20 minutes to set them up with WordPress (a free content management system that is known for its famous five minute install.) That is a significant return on investment for how little work is done if you could sell it for a couple hundred dollars.

If you are looking to make some autoblogs for this purpose, first you will need to find quality RSS feeds to republish on your own website. Finding RSS feeds can be easily done using CyberMake’s Web Parser. In a matter of minutes or even seconds you will be able to get a list of websites for auto submission software.

Should you automate your website by using RSS feeds for your website content? This question isn’t necessarily an easy answer. The real answer is Yes and No because it depends on the type of website you have. If you have a website that you want to automate itself, then yes by all means use RSS feeds. If you want to have unique content, then you shouldn’t be using content that has already been published elsewhere on the web – fairly self-explanatory, right?

Generally, for most websites you want to write your own content because search engines have cracked down on websites using copied content. True, search engines love more content, but having copied content will negatively affect you and might even blacklist you with Google so that you will never appear on the first few pages of searches.

You also don’t want to spin content because most content spinners do a poor job of grammatically making the article still legible. What is the point of an article spinner if no one can read the article afterwards? Your website will most likely will suffer in rankings for organic search traffic, and because the articles aren’t even legible after being spun users will click away faster than it took to load the website. This is probably worse off than using copied content in the first place because it won’t even convert users through affiliate sales or advertisements.

But when should you use already syndicated content? There are some situations when you would want to have automated content. For example, you could use syndicated content if you have an excellent domain name that people will simply write into their browser address bar without going through a search engine, such as gambling.com or another generic term or phrase. Another example of when to use automated content is when you already have an established following through social media or advertising whom subscribe to your website that republishes only the best of the best content in a specific niche.

The latter method can be quite profitable because users will find you through other means other than search engines. A lot of users are specifically looking to find rss feeds by the amount of subscribers you already have. The more subscribers you already have, the higher belief that users will trust your content must great and they will subscribe too. This would be the ideal situation because you could literally make ad revenue while doing basically nothing but weeding out the best and the worst of content to automatically feed to your website.

Cybermake is software that allows you to extract thousands of links from search engines, such as for the use of locating RSS feeds by keywords.

Most small businesses can’t afford to have an in-house designer for their company nor do they have a need to employ a designer full time. Formerly, designers would have to higher a design agency that could be pricey and not offer the quality design they were looking for. Not anymore, a new trend for businesses small and large alike is to offer a public contest for the design creativity they are lacking.

Maybe you have seen those amateur TV commercials that were produced by contest winners, but you have never even considered holding a contest for your own company. Why should you, especially if you are the type of entrepreneur who tries to do it all? Here are some reasons why…

1. Inexpensive – Holding a design contest is relatively cheap, but the quality is not. You determine your own price, but beware, the lower your contest prize amount, the lesser amount of quality designers who will be interested in working on your logo. There is some truth in,”you get what you pay for.”

2. Time – Save some time. Some things are better left to a professional because it is their expertise and not yours. A serious entrepreneur needs to delegate some work despite the do-it-all attitude they sometimes have because time is money, and your time can be spent doing other productive tasks like that business plan you’ve been meaning to get to.

3. Competition – When a design contest is held the quality level escalates between the competition because they all want to win that jackpot.

4. Be Choosy – Because the competition is increased when your prize offer is adequate, you have the right to be choosy. No longer are the days when you pay your design agency and you are only allowed so many revisions. Get it right, the first time. Plus, being choosy can be fun!

5. Creativity – You specified how you want your logo to look, but then you realized the designers know a whole heck of a lot more about design than you do. You might just be surprised that what you thought you wanted isn’t what you’ll end up choosing after all.

Bonus – You are putting good people to work by employing freelancers. Helping others make money by doing what they love is something to feel good about.

Name your own price. Pick your logo design quote.

Being a graphic designer can be tough. It might be something you enjoy doing, but it can be a demanding job. Clients are breathing down your neck, or telling you to change this or that.

In other cases, graphic designing can be slow and vary in length between clients, which certainly doesn’t bode well for job security. If you are a struggling graphic designer because you don’t have the clientele or your portfolio isn’t diverse and large enough, consider becoming a freelance designer to fill in the gaps between work periods. After all, freelance designing can open you to a entirely new customer base who might refer you later.

More specifically, become a freelance designer for design contests. It offers an array of benefits over traditional freelance work. Here are five reasons why you should consider becoming a freelance designer for design contests…

1. Pick and Choose – Choose projects that inspire you because it is difficult to work on a project that doesn’t motivate. You can view the customers needs and accept or pass depending on your intuition of being able to earn that “graphic sale.” Maybe you have a strategy on how to win the contest, such as choosing smaller budget contests with less submissions for better odds.

2. Large Prizes – Some companies are willing to pay big bucks to have their logo created. If you dominate the majority of high quality logo submissions you have a greater shot at the large jackpots because it shows desire to win, but ultimately companies will likely choose the logo that is most ideal for them. A designer shouldn’t be discouraged by other competing designers because the payout can be large enough to be worth effort.

3. Creative on your own terms – You don’t necessarily have to follow the customers explicit instructions, try what you like. Why should you? Because ideas sometimes just flow left and right, and what you’ve thought of might be better than what the customer was looking for. If they like the new idea, they might communicate with you to develop it further, further increasing your chances to have your work purchased.

4. Additional Income – This is not to suggest that designers should strictly design for design contests, but in between jobs it supplies additional work or in busy times it could be bonus work. If graphic designing is a side job, designing contests is the perfect opportunity

5. Customer Relations – Working with real customers can develop your reputation as a graphic designer and chances to have repeat customers or referrals. Plus it polishes a resume nicely.

Offer your graphic design services for Design Contests.

Some trends come and go, but others are here to stay. How can you stay on top of trends? How can you choose something that will last more than a day?

In order to find out some of the latest logo design trends, I took a look at Design Contests (a relatively new freelance medium for designers) because it is the best and easiest solution to see what is being created in near real time. Here are some of the recent 2011 logo trends I’ve seen…

Gradients – While logos are still considered best when using minimal colors, many new logos are using same color gradients. For example, multiple designs I’ve viewed use the same basic color, but they will fade from dark to light. Thanks to modern technological advances in print and display a greater variety of shades of colors can be used.

Earth tones – Lots of logos use traditional business colors such as blues and grays, but with the ever growing environmental field these companies have created simple representations of mother nature in the form of trees, leaves, water, and clouds. The colors are not bold, but rather easy on the eyes. The symbols representing environmental companies are clever.

Cutouts – To keep colors to a minimum, logo designers are using techniques that detract color to form shapes. For example, instead of adding dark lines into an object, designers are subtracting color, giving the same desired effect but without using additional colors. Where that color was subtracted now appears the background.

Motion – Words or icons appear to have movement because of the fine details illustrating an action. For example, logos might use lines that illustrate speed, hot temperature, and loudness.

These trends are very popular among top ranked logo selections and almost certainly are likely to last for more than a couple years, but these next trends probably will not last…

Letters as symbols – Using letters out of a companies name to create an icon for a lack of anything better. Results on effectiveness are mixed at best.

Fine Print below – Plenty of companies use fine print below a logo, and have been for years. The issue with using the subtle gray print below the logo is that slogans in companies frequently change to adapt to the way they do business. Fine print will most likely continue on, but these logos are more likely to need to be altered than those that do without.

Before you have your company logo designed a client should have a slight understanding of whzt colors they should be using. This is a guide on color use in logo design but not limited too. These colors are also the colors that should be consistant throughout a company including the website.

Color use is very important to the type of business your in. Certain colors evoke different meanings. If unsure of what colors to use, see what your competitors are using. Similar to the idea of resturants doing better when located near like businesses, companies in the same category should be using similar colors that still are unique. You should never copy the colors of another business because you could face legal issues regarding infringement.

If unsure what colors to chose, go with black or blues. These colors are the safest bet for most businesses in general. They convey trustworthiness, respect, tradition, and calmness. Black can also be a mysterious color. Blue is sometimes associated with many things in nature like water or the sky.

Typically, the colors most associated with nature are browns and greens. These are considered earth tones. These colors can be blended together in harmony because of their simplicity. Green is also the color associated with money and success and is the color associated with financial businesses.

Orange is an interesting color because very rarely does it occur in nature. It is a fun color that is not serious because of its youthful appearance. This doesn’t mean a serious company should never use it. Orange is a color that is proven most effective for a call-to-action button. It is an attention grabbing color that converts into sales. It should be used sparingly only to be used for grabbing attention. It should be left out of logos if the business is not meant to be quirky.

Purple and gold are royal colors because of their rarity. It is lavish and elegant. It is the colors of justice. The color purple is often associated as being feminine in modern times. It is a fantasy, dream-like color. It translates to being expensive or luxurious for companies.

Red is an attention grabbing color. It is extremely bold and daring. It is the color of love and passion. Its frequently used for food and automotive related businesses. Red is one of the most difficult colors to work with because almost everything clashes with it besides black and whites and sometimes light blue.

White is the most basic color, it works with everything much like black does. It is simple and basic. It appears clean. It doesn’t evoke much emotion. In logo design white is usually a background color.

A logo is the face of an entire organization. Immediately, it is a first impression and a lasting impression. A customer won’t take your business seriously if you have a poor logo design. In fact, if you have a great logo design it will improve your business odds of success.

Think of a name brand t-shirt, the logo is extremely important to whether a customer will wear it or not. The logo creates a persona and is often a portrayal of the person wearing that article of clothing. Would you wear a t-shirt with an amateur logo on the front? Probably not. Would you buy from a company with an amateur logo? Most likely not.

The following are the key ingredients to a successful logo…

1. Simple, bold, memorable, unique – Most logos are simple in nature. If a customer can’t describe or redraw what they’ve seen for your logo, it is not an effective logo. On the other hand, avoid logos that are too simple because the chances of being similar to another logo increases. Logos need to be unique, they need to be void of design cliches such as swoops or golden arches. Logos must look recognizable in a single color.

2. Communicate nature of product or service – A logo needs to properly reflect the type of company it is portraying. Avoid using fonts that are inappropriate in most cases like comic sans, unless of course you are in the business of comic books. Does the logo convey a type of emotion or action?

3. Easy to read, good balance, no clutter, graphic imagery – A logo should be easy to read no matter how it is scaled in size. The logo should have a good balance of text and imagery spaced appropriately. Text spacing is important. Often text spacing is tight or scrunched to be quicker to recognize, but there are times when wider text spacing is appropriate. A logo should never use clip art or a photo. A graphic needs to be visually pleasing or appealing. Avoid colors and fonts that clash.

4. Versatile or flexible – Logos are simple because they are used everywhere: TV, Internet, Print, Shirts, Hats, Billboards, Signs, and more. They need to be scalable so they are recognizable big or small. They must also be recognizable if it is printed in black and white or a single color other than the original color(s).

5. Timeless – The best logos are timeless. They don’t conform to trends. A logo shouldn’t be too specific. It must be able to adapt to company growth and corporate changes.

Leave the logo designing to a professional. Use a logo design contest to meet your needs.
